Case Study
Urban HDD Bore Campaign
Horizontal directional drilling under active roadways and intersections in a dense urban corridor
Overview
T&O Underground executed a series of horizontal directional drilling bores under active roadways and intersections for a telecom prime contractor operating in a dense urban market. The work required precision bore path planning, strict utility tolerance protocols, and same-day surface restoration on every site.
The Challenge
Urban HDD work leaves no margin for error. Active traffic, buried utility congestion, and tight bore windows demanded experienced operators and a disciplined safety culture. Any utility strike or surface damage would have triggered costly delays and contractor liability.
Our Approach
Our HDD operators conducted thorough pre-bore utility locates and developed bore path plans for each crossing. Traffic control was coordinated directly with local authorities. Every bore was completed with our own equipment and crew — no rental operators, no unfamiliar machines. Same-day restoration was executed by our in-house team.
